Music & Performing Arts

Students learn to read, write, and perform music through our unique music literacy program. In the Lower School, students continue to build on these same skills with an increased emphasis on performance practice. In the Upper School, students are introduced to music technology, learn to play various wind instruments, participate in a world music class, and gain a basic understanding of how music is used to codify cultural understanding. Additionally, LFCDS has a thriving band and choral program. Students may participate in Chorus, Honors Chorus, Concert and Symphonic Bands. All students at LFCDS perform in various assemblies and concerts throughout the school year. The Music Department offers numerous opportunities for students to prepare and perform at area solo and ensemble competitions.
