Graduation and matriculation to secondary school serve as the formal end of the academic program at LFCDS. The groundwork for this transition is laid at the end of 7th Grade when families begin meeting with LFCDS' Director of Secondary School Placement, who provides individualized counseling to each student and family as they prepare to navigate their crosswalk into high school. Just as instruction is tailored to meet each student at their level, Secondary School Placement is designed to support each student in differentiated ways. From assistance identifying a list of schools to consider to providing guidance with developing applications to staging mock interviews with admission counselors, our Secondary School Placement process is deliberate in addressing every element of the transition to high school.
Other unique features of our process include an annual Boarding School fair, campus visits from secondary school representatives, and the newly developed Young Alumni Secondary School Forum, which invites recent graduates attending a diverse cross-section of schools back to LFCDS to share with 7th and 8th Graders insight and anecdotes that equip them to matriculate to high school with confidence.
